My Journey
It all started when I injured my back while working as a truck driver. I was amazed at how quickly massage and physical therapy took me from crippling pain and got me back on the road again. So I switched careers and earnt my Bachelor of Health Sciences at NZCM, with awards for academic excellence along the way.
Since graduating in 2017 I have had the privilege of working for the Wellington Phoenix, International sports teams, Hutt Physio, Capital Sports Med, and teaching at the NZ College of Massage (NZCM).
As an ultra runner I also appreciate the value of massage. Not only does it help me recover from training and events, manage injuries past and present, and improve my race performance, I value the impact massage has on my stress and anxiety levels. The line between peak performance and injury is razor thin.
My aim is to help you get back doing what you love, whether that's work or play, at the top of your game.
My Approach:
I recognise there can be many factors contributing to pain, stress and dysfunction, so I like to use many ways of targeting the roadblocks.
During a session I usually check in with your general health and relevant medical history, we may go through a movement screening to make the session specific to your needs. We will have a chat about the plan of action and longer term management strategies.
The hands on part of the session blends many different bodywork techniques but you will always be consulted as to what you prefer (eg. if dry needling is not for you). I use often use movement based techniques similar to an assisted stretch, as this style of bodywork tends to have longer lasting effects than just deep tissue or trigger point massage.
